21 Days of Prayer

This devotional book is designed to guide our devotional time and prayer time as we seek to discover the purpose and plan God has for us as individuals and as a church for the next 21 days. We are convinced that God moves when we pray. Our desire is to see a move of God in our church and city like never before. Therefore, we begin with a season of prayer.

We are convinced most people don’t enjoy prayer because they don’t think they know how to pray. We’ve designed this devotional book to help you know how pray. You’ll see many different models of prayer throughout this book. You do not have to master all of them. Find what works for you. Pick a model, be intentional, don’t rush and enjoy this time with the Lord.

Prayer is most effective when it isn’t something we practice sporadically. This must become a lifestyle we cultivate. In Mark 1:35, the Scripture says, “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.” This teaches us three important principles to build our journey in prayer upon:

Jesus prayed early in the morning. We must make a daily appointment with God. Whenever you schedule your prayer time, be fresh, focused and free from distraction.

This verse says He went out to a desolate place. It was specific. He did not just grab a spot wherever He was…He withdrew from people and prayed. Having a designated place to pray keeps us committed and frees us from distraction as we pray.

This is where most of us fail. We set aside the time, but when it comes to truly praying, we don’t know what to do. When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He gave them a prayer outline. We call it the Lord’s Prayer. We want to provide you with two models of prayer that you can use over the next 21 days. Following the two models, you will find a page for prayer focus. Here, you can fill it in with people to remember to pray for over the coming weeks. Then, we invite you to join us for 21 Days of Prayer. Our heart is to help you discover the beauty of a vibrant prayer life where you see God move.
